This Week's Report
Weather has been good around Sarasota. It’s still warm, but the consistent afternoon showers have been cooling things down and making the mornings really comfortable on the water. Winds have generally been out of the southeast early before turning south to southwest during the afternoon.
Fishing has stayed consistent. We’ve been finding juvenile tarpon along with redfish, snook and speckled trout. Whitebait and pinfish are still the baits of choice and have continued to produce across the different areas we’ve been fishing.
We’ve also been changing things up after dark. To beat the daytime heat, we’ve been doing some nighttime flounder gigging, and that has been really good lately. It’s a completely different way to spend a night on the water and has been a productive option while the September temperatures are still hanging around.
